Educational Psychology (M.Ed.)

Program Description

The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Psychology (Non-Thesis) offered by the Department of Educational & Counselling Psychology in the Faculty of Education is a course-based program that emphasizes practical and engaging learning opportunities. The program's objective is to equip students with skills in resourceful thinking, collaboration, and scientific communication to pursue professional opportunities [or potentially continue their studies.

The program may be taken in one of the following options:

General Educational Psychology option: focuses on core areas of educational psychology, including learning theories, human development, diversity, and inclusion. Application towards the growth and enhancement of knowledge and practice in a variety of formal and informal educational settings.

General Educational Psychology (Project) option: same as above but provides an opportunity to focus on an issue in the field of educational psychology by completing a research project.

Inclusive Education option: focuses on the major theories and practices in the field of inclusive education, including diversity in development, and ecological models of teaching, learning, and assessment. Application in school, community, and other settings to develop inclusive practices.

Inclusive Education (Project) option: same as above but provides an opportunity to focus on an issue in the field of inclusive education by completing a research project.

Learning Sciences option: focuses on the study of teaching and learning in formal and informal contexts, including cognitive, social and affective processes. Application in instructional design including the use of technology, program/curriculum development and evaluation.

  • Graduates may also pursue a variety of careers as the program has direct applications in areas such as staff development, patient or client education in CLSCs, social services, hospitals, and industry.

University-Level Admission Requirements

  • An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
  • English-language proficiency
