About the internship:Ìý

º£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾ students in the final year of their program are eligible to apply.ÌýGzowski Interns kick off their internship experience by receiving a week of training in the basics of journalism, radio and online production at the CBC in Toronto. For the remainder of the 4 month internship the º£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾ intern will be placed with CBC Radio Montreal to learn about the craft of making content for all CBC platforms. The Intern will contribute to radio programs and online content, and do a range of duties including researching, writing, interviewing, and sound gathering for various CBC channels.ÌýÌý

CBC Radio created this internship for university students inÌýhonour of journalist and broadcaster Peter Gzowski.

CBC Requirements:

CBC is looking for candidates who:

  • Have proficientÌýFrench: the intern should be able, for example, to request information from a source in French, to translate information received in French, to watch a news conference in French and comprehend the details, etc.
  • Work well in a teamÌý
  • Demonstrate a high degree of creativityÌý
  • Be curious about the worldÌý
  • Be engaged in their communitiesÌý
  • Imagine themselves one day working for the public broadcasterÌý
  • Want to be part of a diverse and inclusive newsroomÌý
  • CBC Montreal is a local newsroom. Candidates should have a strong interest in local news, and an involvement and/or interest in Montreal's communities.Ìý

Eligibility

  • Must be graduating º£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾ students, completing their studies in fall 2024Ìýor winter 2025Ìýfrom any faculty.Ìý
  • Applicants who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents must have a valid work permit by the start of the internship period.Ìý

Application Package Requirements:

  • A resume (1-2 pages max)
  • Letter of Intent describing what you are studying and why you are applying
  • A description of your idea for a radio programÌý(1 page max)
  • A description of something you heard on the radio that you found compellingÌý(1 page max)
  • A creative work sample. This does not have to be written and can be in a variety of formats (e.g., a video, an essay, an audio recording).Ìý
  • Three references, at least two must be outside your university
