Joelle Pineau

Joelle Pineau

Associate Professor & William Dawson Scholar at the School of Computer Science, º£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾, Montreal, Canada.

Joelle Pineau is an Associate Professor and William Dawson Scholar at the SCS at º£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾, where she co-directs the Reasoning and Learning Lab. She is a core academic member of Mila and a Canada CIFAR AI chairholder. She holds a BASc in Engineering from the University of Waterloo, and an MSc and PhD in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University.

Dr. Pineau's research focuses on developing new models and algorithms for planning and learning in complex partially observable domains. She also works on applying these algorithms to complex problems in robotics, health care, games and conversational agents.

Emmanuel Tabi

Emmanuel Tabi

Assistant Professor at the Department of Integrated Studies in Education, º£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾, Montreal, Canada.

Emmanuel Tabi’s intersectional Black Studies frameworks, strong arts-based and community-engaged scholarship within Black communities, and his wide experience working with school boards to address issues of equity position him at the cutting edge of crucial education conversations and school-community-university collaborations in Canada.

Golnoosh Farnadi

Golnoosh Farnadi

Assistant Professor of Machine Learning at HEC Montréal & an Adjunct Professor at University of Montréal, Canada.

Golnoosh Farnadi is an Assistant Professor of Machine Learning at HEC Montréal (U. Montreal’s business school), and an Adjunct Professor at University Montréal. She is a core faculty member at MILA (Quebec Institute for Learning Algorithms) and holds the Canada CIFAR AI chair. Her research interests include Fairness-aware AI, Privacy-preserving Machine Learning, Constrained Optimization, Deep Learning, Probabilistic Graphical Model and Social Network Analysis.

Khan Bouba

Khan Bouba

Counsellor and member of the Ordre des Conseillers et Conseillères d'Orientation du Québec (OCCOQ).

Khan Bouba owns and operates KB-D Counseling & Consulting, designs and facilitates workshops and training, and outreach and leadership programs for post-secondary institutions. Khan works with adolescents, specializing in relationships, bullying, anxiety, and racial trauma. He also consults organizations, such as post-secondary institutions, to implement inclusive measures.

Katherine Maurer

Katherine Maurer

Licensed social worker & Associate Professor at the School of Social Work, º£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾, Montreal, Canada.

Katherine Maurer’s interdisciplinary research focuses on adolescent mental and behavioral health during the transition to adulthood. Particularly, she studies the physiological impact of exposure to extreme stressors, such as violence and poverty, on the development of self-regulation capacities in adolescence and adults.

Yale D. Belanger

Yale D. Belanger

Professor of Political Science at the University of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.

Yale‘s research breaks new ground in understanding First Nations’ gambling enterprises, urban Aboriginal policy, and the role of federal housing policy in addressing homelessness among Aboriginal peoples. He is currently working on the water issues in southern Alberta and reconciling different political and legal environments concerning the two rivers that cross the Canada-United States border.


º£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾ is on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. We acknowledge and thank the diverse Indigenous peoples whose presence marks this territory on which peoples of the world now gather.
