Ali Beydoun

My area of research is clathrate hydrates modelling, and specifically its potential role in carbon sequestration and energy extraction. Being a Vadasz scholar makes me feel rewarded for my efforts so far and freed from the fear of financial scarcity.

Brandon Poole

I completed my Master of Visual Studies in Studio Art at the University of Toronto’s John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design. My current PhD researchÌýatÌýº£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾'s School of Architecture considers the histories and theories of simulation, visualization, and computer-generated images in relation to cinema and other architectures of immersion.ÌýThe Vadasz Scholarhip affords me the opportunity of giving full and dedicated attention to my research.


Emily Kaczmarek

I am pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering, where my research focuses on developing computer vision algorithms to advance the understanding and treatment of neurological diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis. I am incredibly grateful to the Vadaszes for their generous support of my research during my degree.


Greg Brock

My area of study is hydrophilic surface functionalization via femtosecond laser machining for underwater applications. I did my undergraduate and am doing my PhD in chemical engineering at º£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾. For me this scholarship means financial stability and independence.

Rémi Dagenais

I completed my bachelor and Master's in bioengineering at º£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾. My research project consists of understanding how fMRI can be used to study the regulation of blood pressure at the brain level. The Vadasz scholarship is an opportunity for me to focus on my research.


Jade Boutot

I completed my Bachelor's and master’s degrees in civil engineering at º£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾. My research focuses on better understanding methane emissions from abandoned oil and gas wells. I am incredibly grateful for the generous support of my research through the Vadasz Scholarship.

Christopher Morales

I am pursuing my Ph.D in mechanical engineering at º£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾ with a special focus on acoustics. Currently, my research is on acoustic analysis and noise reduction on synthetic jet actuators. I am grateful for the recognition received for my hard work through the Vadasz scholarship.

ShruthiÌýSrinivasan

I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering within the Computational Aerodynamics Group at º£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾. My research is focused on the development of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) methods for hypersonic flows and combustion problems. I am incredibly grateful to the Vadaszes for their generous support as it allows me to focus on my research and professional development.

Asia Vighi

After completing my undergraduate studies in Bioengineering at º£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾, I am now pursuing a PhD in Bioengineering within the research fields of synthetic biology and metabolic engineering. I feel very fortunate to have been recognized for the Vadasz scholarship, which will allow me to dedicate more time towards my research and other personal projects on improving scientific communication and accessibility for the general public.


Dylan Szostopal

I am a civil engineering PhD student conducting research in environmental engineering. As a Vadasz Scholar I have been afforded the opportunity to focus on my graduate studies unhindered by financial obstacles. I hope to use this opportunity to drive significant progress in my area of study.

Eran Ittah

I am studying the role of water in governing the properties of connective tissues – from bones to corneas. With a better understanding of how these tissues are structured, we can begin to design biological materials that look and behave like the real thing.

Joel Jean-Philyppe

I have been working with the Alternative Fuels Laboratory of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at º£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾ since September 2020. My undergraduate research and PhD thesis focus on the development of combustion technologies to enable iron as a clean, zero-carbon, sustainable fuel, as a replacement to hydrocarbon fuels. By alleviating my financial burden, the Vadasz scholarship enables me to focus on creating a lasting impact in the field of clean technology.


William Ma

My research at º£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾ involves the application of machine learning in bioinformatics. Being a Vadasz Scholar for 4 years means that I will spend more time focusing on that research and less time worrying about securing funding during my studies.


Wilfred Mason

I am pursuing a PhD in the MACRObotics lab, a multidisciplinary research group exploring the design and control of robotic systems. My research explores new approaches for giving robots a sense of touch through the design of compliant tactile sensors. I am honored to be a Vadasz Scholar, and am excited to spend the next four years pursuing impact-driven research with like-minded peers at º£ÍâÖ±²¥bÕ¾.


Katrina Poulin

I am pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering. My research is focused on Electronic Design Automation for integrated circuits and systems, which are key components of the technology we use every day. My work focuses on making circuit simulation tools more efficient and accurate to sustain the fast-growing microchip industry. I feel incredibly honoured to be a Vadasz Scholar, as it allows me to continue exploring this important area and contribute to the future of technology.
