After you've applied

Waiting for news? Now that you’ve completed all the necessary steps for your application, here are a few things you should know.

How to track the status of your application

You can track the status of your application in your online applicant portal. In addition, you can contact the admissions office through your application (preferred method after applying).

Admission decision timelines

After we’ve reviewed all applications, we send out admissions decisions on a rolling basis. You will likely hear from us between mid-February and April 15th. You can review the details of your offer of admission and accept your offer from your applicant portal.

We make every effort to notify all applicants as soon as we can. In return, we ask for the courtesy of a response within three weeks of receiving your official acceptance.

Funding offers will be issued separately and will include a specific deadline and instructions to accept your scholarship offer.

How to prepare for your placement exam

All students beginning graduate studies in Composition, Music Technology, and Music Theory are required to take placement examinations to identify whether their academic preparation in Music is sufficient. Based on the results of these examinations, incoming students may be required to take certain remedial courses and other undergraduate preparatory courses. These would form an additional part of the students’ program of study.

About one month after you accept your offer of admission, you will receive the details of your required placement exams. You will have three weeks to complete and return them. You are not required to have an invigilator, but you are expected to write these examinations without assistance (e.g. Internet, textbooks) and within the allocated time for each question.

You can start preparing now by following the placement exam guidelines for your program:
